Last Weekend

Hola Muchachos! It's been a crazy crazy month!! Seriously, it's already the last day of January and we couldn't be any busier than this. For me, I've been running around here and there, getting things done, productions, meetings, weddings, clients, and last but not least borrowing all the wardrobes for two shoots this week. Yes, life has been HECTIC as hell, but always be grateful for it.

Might take some time for me to feed your soul with my next upcoming post, but of course I will always do my best to squeeze in some time to keep writing, and posting. A little note about our next travel plans, tickets are booked and hope for the best Spring time. Hint: Any of you going to Coachella this year?

Anyways, call time today is 8am. I'm getting myself ready and pray for a very good sunny weather today. Here's some pictures from last weekend at Otel Lobby, with our beloved friends and (extended) family.

I WISH YOU ALL

A VERY HAPPY & HEALTHY 2012!

I'm starting mine with a few list of 2012 goals, with a how-to-guide in Making and Keeping My New Year Resolution:

1. To Live: Work, Health & Travel

I will continue my fashion label again bit-by-bit. I'm taking it slow and enjoying it, while traveling to Japan, New York, and the Holy City of Mecca in between. Not to forget, me & hubby always try to travel to (at least) one of the beautiful islands or any city in Indonesia. I'm also keeping the balance by staying true in the path of the green lifestyle (yes, I'm a granola type - according to Ms.Garance Dore), I'd like to be healthy by getting myself in a private session of Pilates twice a week (which will be starting sometime next week) plus daily routine home exercise. After a few long years, sadly said I decided to quit my kung-fu class.

2. To Love: Family & Friends

Definitely will spare more time for our family (that includes walk our dogs everyday) & our dearest friends. Anddd.. After losing our baby last year, we will try to get preggy again this year. =)))

3. To Learn : Languange & Read More Books

I would always determine to learn French as long as I live. But this year, I'm going to take Russian language class! Da?

Also, lately I've been reading a lot of marketing books. It's pretty weird considering how I never really interested in marketing. But lately I've been hooked and really want to know more about it. Especially how marketing works in the creative industry, such as fashion and art.

4. Get (More) Organized

Whether it's arranging & marking schedules in my new yearly planner, or re-organizing my shoes and clothes, I do believe cleaning and organizing things are therapeutic (talk about being mildly obsessive compulsive disorder..). The plus side of throwing away old clothes are, besides having a clutter-free closet, it really does makes me easier to look out for things in a more organized stacks.

Ah yes, the joy of long holidays!

5. To take everything I've mention above, really easy - absolutely no pressure.

I think by having it that way will keep you on the go, and surely will take you closer to your dream life. And if things doesn't go the way you planned it, you will be okay.

I would like to remind you once again, there's no better way than having 43things as your daily/monthly reminder to your goals. So, what's your plan for this year? Will we cross our path somewhere between Japan, New York or Mecca??

Private Preview: Fred Perry Indonesia

Couple months back, we were extremely thrilled when we first found out that Fred Perry was opening soon in our town. And tonight, we were attending the invitation from our good friends at SevenOhSeven & Fred Perry for a private preview of the 1st ever Fred Perry shop in Indonesia, which is located at Plaza Indonesia.

I did went completely confused to choose 1 out of a few choices from the Amy Winehouse collection,

and after asking 50 peoples & friends that were at the event, I ended up with the knitted silk shirt.

I believe we will see each other more often now. *wink*

Three is a Charm

Yesterday was our 3rd year wedding Anniversary! Unlike our first 2 years anniversary, we really didn't think about having some quality/romantic evening whatsoever, due to our full schedule at work. But surprisingly the night spent really well! We had dinner meeting with our favourite (couple) friends/client at Ocha Bella, located in Morrissey Hotel. For me it's always been a great combo of what a perfect night would be: a nice place, with good foods and good friends along with lovely tunes played by our friend, DJ Aditya (from the band Agrikulture).

Thank you, hubby, it's been a 'La Dolce Vita!' experience for me.

Let's do this roller coaster ride 'til the next life.

What do you think of it? I think it's beautiful & inspiring. I do like it better than the last year Terry Richardson's version although not as much as the Greek Gods edition by Karl Lagerfeld.

But, Milla Jovovich did make a good point in her statement,

"The thing about Pirelli is the really great tires, and they're strong and modern and they work, so in the shoot you've got these really strong amazing modern women. So there's this relationship going on between these really strong tires and these really strong women."

Days to Remember

Had the most amazing time with the (supa crazy) boys of Chk Chk Chk & Tame Impala last October as their Liaison Officer for Beatfest & Soundshine. Getting drinks, taking the band to studio rehearsal, soundcheck, watching the band playing live from the backstage (which sometimes can be quite stressful and not that much fun), after parties and karaoke-ing with live saxophone player (courtesy of Allan Wilson) at the backstage, does (also) included in the deskjob! Ooh yeah, I love my part-time job!

NATURAL BEAUTY

I can't really remember when's the first time I fell completely in love by going 'Au Naturale' as something really basic and important part in my daily beauty regime. I think it all started out with a conversation with my eldest sister at one Sunday, despite having allergies on some beauty product that uses the word "Fragrance" in the ingredient list & also due to my concern about all things that have been going on with our Mama Earth.

Rare diseases, freakishly climate change, and their domino effects to the world..

All of those things put me in a different state of mind, for GOOD!

It started to tickle my fancy. The hunger of knowing about the advantages of having toxic-free beauty regime in the daily beauty products that I've been using. Then, I start learning bit-by-bit. And many hidden facts that has been written on the composition label on the back (or under) every products that I've been using, came as a shock to me.

On this opportunity I would love to share with you the importance of using toxin-free beauty products. I might be a newbie in the 'Au Naturale' world, but I try my best to have that balance in terms of beauty for body and it's longevity and disease-prevention benefit. Really, these cancer-causing villains will do no good for your own health.

No need to spend all that money on expensive things. You can start small, by first getting to know the ingredients in every products you're using. Soap, Shampoos, Conditioner, Body Lotions, Face Moisturizer, Toner, Makeup Cleanser, Hair Gels and Waxes, Shaving Creme, Toothpaste, and the list goes on...

Few months ago, I started to read every ingredients/compositions to every products that I'm gonna buy on my monthly groceries list, and I ended up by spending a full 2.5hours at the supermarket with not-so-many things to buy. Turns out most of them are NOT TOXIN-FREE. Doohhhh.....

And the hard part by living in Indonesia, where the awareness of going natural and organic have not yet sufficient. I had to look at some other supermarkets like Ranch Market (which is thankfully is located just around the corner of my house), and pharmacy like Apotik Melawai for my natural body scrub. How I wish Whole Foods is also just around the corner of my house.... *le sigh*.

Surprisingly enough, Bali has quite a few good natural products as well! So I get some of my beauty products from there A LOT too. Such as, Kou Soap Bars, Bali Hair Mask Cremebath, Utama Spice Body Lotions and Green Tea Leafs from Dharma Teas.

Other than that you can also make some home-remedies for your beauty basic needs. Try to google it, or check out those home-demos from youtube. It's fast, easy to make and best of all..it's cheap! I know you'd like that. Hee hee.

Some other places for you to get some toxin-free beauty products are: LoveLula, the natural apothecary. I was jumping up and down, almost burst into joyful tears (excessively drama!) when I found out about LoveLula and their ability in shipping to Indonesia. Apart from my favourites natural brands like John Masters Organic and Burt's Bees, they recently add some new brands to the webstore such as BUTTER nail polishes! Yes, I almost cried and jump for joy because the official Butter website can't make deliveries outside the US & UK. They might want to consider of adding AVEDA on the list too.. (a customer's wish.. :P).

So, here are the list of ingredients that you might want to avoid from here on out to prevent those nasty diseases such as Cancer. I quoted this from my ultimate natural beauty goddes source, the Goddes Huntress.

1. PARABENS. Look for any ingredient that ends in "paraben". Parabens are estrogen mimickers, meaning when absorbed it takes on the qualities of estrogen. It's key not to increase our estrogen levels in prevention of breast cancer. Here is the kicker: parabens have been found in breast cancer tumors and it makes healthy breast cells act as cancer cells.

2. PHTHALATES. Phthaltes are linked to early puberty in girls, which significantly increases the chance of breast cancer later in life. Phthalates disrupt our glands. Look for any ingredient that ends in "phthalate". A common carrier of phthalates is nail polish and synthetic fragrances. Make sure your nail polishes are free of the nasties by buying Dibutyl Phthalate (or DBP) Free nail polishes. Luckily the nail polish brands free of this chemical nasty happily advertise their clean formulations. Other diseases that Phthalates caused are infertility, uterine cancer, testicular cancer, fetal defects.

Phthalates are also used in many plastics to make them soft and/or flexible. They are commonly used to prolong the longevity of fragrance in personal care products, fragrances, and cosmetics. There are many types of phthalates and a good amount are banned from cosmetics and children’s toys in Europe. As of 2009, the U.S. established some phthalates not exceed 0.1 percent in children’s toys. You can also find phtalates in vinyl, medical devices, packaging, food products, baby bottles, and sex toys. Some hospitals are phasing out plastics in infant intensive care units.

Unfortunately, phthalates do not have to be listed as an ingredient on consumer products. Some products do state “phthalates free”. To avoid phthalates, choose fragrance-free products, stay away from plastics with the recycle codes 3 and 7, cut off plastic water/soda bottle use (especially if pregnant), purchase BPA/pthalate free baby bottles, remove plastic/vinyl shower curtains, replace plastic food storage containers with glass, stay away from canned foods (cans inner coating contains phthalates), dispose of old plastic toys (U.S. phthalate toy regulation started in 2009), and go green with your sex toys!

Visit EWG’s cosmetic database to see if your products contain pthalates.

3. SULFATES. Usually written as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS), Cocamide DEA, Lauramide DEA. In your shampoo, conditioner, facial cleanser, body was, liquid hand soap, shaving cream, bubble bath/bath oil/bath salts, toothpaste, hair color & hair bleach, and worse, your baby products.

Sulfates are a foaming agent that strip all oils, leaving surfaces barren and dehydrated, which explains why there is a huge need for conditioners and moisturizers marketing tool. We have been trained to think that a soap only works when it lathers up due to an added ingredient known as sulfate. This fluffy lather has been created to evoke "cleanliness".

So here it is.

SULFATES. FOAM. LATHER. NOT CLEAN.

So wrong!

Besides creating a foam party, here are sulfates and their 'gentler' clones do.

Unnatural hair loss, damage follicles, irritate skin (dermatitis), potentially create carcinogens through contact with other ingredients, fade color treated hair, strip essential oils, damage the immune system, may impair brain, heart and eye function.

Lather does not mean Cleansing.

Again, check on those ingredients. There are lots of great performing sulfate-free products (that may lather naturally) in the marketplace to replace those sulface-ridden products.

4. FLUORIDE. Shocker! Despite it's claim to prevent cavities, it's a dangerous toxic chemical. Most of the fluoride used in dental products and in water supply fluoridation is a by-product of making fertilizer. What's even a shocker is, the FDA lists fluoride as an "unapproved new drug" and the EPA lists fluoride as a "contaminant". Fluoride has NEVER received 'FDA Approval'. It has been linked to florosis in children, Acne, Alzheimer's, kidney damage, cancer, genetic damage, neurological impairment, bone and tooth decay.

5. TRICLOSAN. Can also be listed as:

5-CHLORO-2- (2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXY) PHENOL; PHENOL, 5-CHLORO-2- (2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXY) -; 2,4,4′-TRICHLORO-2′-HYDROXY DIPHENYL ETHER; 5-CHLORO-2- (2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXY) – PHENOL; PHENOL, 5CHLORO2 (2,4DICHLOROPHENOXY) ; 2,4,4′-TRICHLORO-2′-HYDROXYDIPHENYL ETHER; 5-CHLORO-2- (2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXY) PHENOL; CH 3565; IRGASAN; IRGASAN DP300; PHENOL, 5-CHLORO-2- (2,4-DICHLOROPHENOXY) -

Triclosan is found in antibacterial products such as soap, hand sanitizer, clothing, shoes, deodorants, toothpaste, cutting boards, sponges, toys, and cosmetics. Studies have shown that triclosan is an endocrine disruptor and enables bacteria to become antibiotic-resistant.

Triclosan is so prominent, the CDC states that it is found in 75% of the population’s urine. The American Medical Association advises against the use of antibacterial soap at home to prevent the creation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Antibacterial soap has been found no more effective than regular soap.

Triclosan is in drinking water and a large percentage of rivers. The EPA does not regulate levels of triclosan in drinking water.

The European Union has a ban on triclosan for products that come in contact with food.

Triclosan is a listed ingredient in products. Depending on the type of product, you can find it listed in the Drug Facts box or in the ingredient list.

Get to know what your products contain. You can limit your triclosan intake.

6. Retinyl Palmitate. Can also be listed as:

RETINYL PALMITATE, AXEROPHTHOL PALMITATE; RETINOL, HEXADECANOATE; RETINOL PALMITATE; VITAMIN A PALMITATE; HEXADECANOATE RETINOL; AQUASOL A; AROVIT; OPTOVIT-A; RETINOL PALMITATE; VITAMIN A PALMITATE

Retinyl palmitate comes from the retin-A family, a derivative of vitamin A. While this vitamin A family is successful in reducing fine lines and wrinkles (while making skin ultra sensitive and sometimes raw), it causes chemical reactions when exposed to sunlight.

Retinyl palmitate is coming to the forefront as a new, yet controversial, ingredient in sunscreen.According to EWG, 41% of sunscreens being sold to us, this year alone, contain retinyl palmitate.This is definitely a questionable ingredient to include in skincare, especially suncare, due to its phototoxicity and thermal instability.

Seventeen studies have been published by the FDA on the effects of retinyl palmitate. According to these studies, they found that retinyl palmitate forms free radicals in sunlight and alters chromosomes. It has also been found to increase tumor growth in rats by 21%. An ingredient that potentially mutates into a carcinogen with sunlight should not be in our skin products.

Retinyl palmitate can be found in some sunscreen, sunscreen makeup, facial moisturizers, anti-aging treatments, skin peels, foundation, lip treatments, lip gloss, lipstick, blush, and eye cream.

Get to know what your products contain. You can ELIMINATE your retinyl palmitate intake.

Those are some of the toxins you need to know. There are new cosmetics being developed every day, so this should by no means be considered a complete list but a starting place.

It is especially important that pregnant women, and those nursing children be aware that the various toxins in normal products can have an effect on the normal growth of both the fetus and the nursling, as well as upon their future health.

Now's prime time to green up your beauty product stash. Start by taking a look at the ingredient lists on your current faves, see unrecognizable scientific names? Parabens? Sulfates?

Switching to cleaner, purer options means a cleaner, purer you (60 percent of what you apply gets absorbed).

Well, Hello there gorgeous! It's been A.While since I went A.WOL!

Pardon me, for life has been really good to me (read: to us). And we never have been more thankful as we are right now. Yes, we have been incredibly busy at work, and the only quality sleep I had was right after we landed in Bali last week.

Hermès "Paris Mon Ami" Event

This is a colourful post, indeed!

Last Saturday we went to Hermes event Paris Mon Ami, a new Hermes adventure. Where you get to play, dare, mix and remix in the world of silk scarves and huge Hermes enamel bracelets!

Be inspired by the insouciant spirit of Paris. And from that event Hermes sure does inspired, ehm, or slash, making me want to buy those lovely scarves and enamel bracelets instead.

I've laid my eyes on this baby when I was in LIBERTY last month, to get myself a new sunnies.

MYKITA is a Berlin based eyewear manufactured by hand, using the highest quality materials.

This limited collection is a collaboration between MYKITA & Alexandre Herchcovitch called "ANAI" with it's gold colour, UVA & UVB rays will definitely protects me from the strong sunlight. Not to mention how the plastic polarized lenses and the anti-stress metal side looks so cool, I just couldn't miss this one out! ;D

I would rather to move on with my life then to stay in the sorrowness. So I decided to do some catching up with the blog, tell you some stories and pictures from London that I haven't really got the time to share with you guys.

We landed at 6am, so we thought, okay, this is normal morning weather in London. When we asked our driver is it normal to be this cold? And he said "This is winter cold! I don't know what happened to London these couple months has been like this the whole time.." So we stared each other, almost bursting out laugh because we were thinking about our bags that packed up with shorts, short sleeved shirts and summer-y outfits!

The salmon knitted cardigans was the only warm thing I brought from home, for the inflight warmer purposes. So we thought we could always buy new jacket, stockings and all things that could makes us warm.

Thank God the freezing weather only last for our first 3 days of the trip, after that it was WARM, AND SUNNY!!! Our London friends said that we're lucky to get sunshine all week, because they haven't seen the proper summer in London the whole month! That's why on every Sunday we spent it by hanging out in the park, brunch at Boundary Hotel's rooftop, strolling along Broadway Market.

Thank you London, it's been lovelee seeing you again!!

The Longing

I wish I have better words to explain my long gone absence for you guys. How I've been pretty much abandoned the blog for over (is it) 2 months now? The thing is that.. When we were in London, I just learnt that I was 4 weeks pregnant. And within 2 weeks later when we're just arrived at home, I was a complete preggy lady. Feeling sick of everything, from looking at my laptop screen to smelling my husband's perfume. Hey, life wasn't always that pretty on your first trimester of pregnancy.

Then, on my 3rd months of pregnancy, an unfortunate event - a very very sad & unfortunate event went down. The big nightmare of all pregnant woman in the world, happened to us. It was a miscarriage. Just like that. Our baby angel, went away..

It was such a devastating news to us. It feels like endless sadness for these couple days now. But somehow, this thing made us even stronger and kept us even closer with each other than ever. We're sure there's a reason to it, and that this is God's way to give us something bigger and better in the future.

Now we're going to send our prayers to baby angel who's playing in Heaven.

Bernstock Speirs, Love!

Yesterday's outfit goes out to blue and lace and the day spent by strolling down the Brick Lane, Shoreditch. We accidentally found Bernstok Speirs along the way. I can't resist skipping a store with such beautiful hats on display, because I'm such a sucker for hats!!!

And yes, I collect them. I do fancy hats, and shoes, and bags, and umbrellas, and.. the list will go on and on!

When we try to open the door, it was locked. Few seconds later, I'm surprised to see the lovely Ms. Thelma Speirs opened the door for us. She and Paul Bernstock are the most friendly and lovelee designers! I fall for every hats that I tried, but the Bunny Hat got me hooked so bad.

Yes, that Bunny Hat! And those Colourful Floppy Hats are just sitting pretty made me want to buy every colour of it.

Sipping my green tea frapuccino, heading to London town with Jacky, for our long-due delayed summer vacay + working on a few photoshoots while we're there. It's gonna be a long 14hrs flight from Jakarta. But I promise you to share new outfit post as soonest we touched London.

Flowers & Everything In Between

So yes I'm (or we, I suppose) still weeping inside our heart, for missing out PULP reunion concert at Wireless Festival, Hyde Park London the other day. We bought our tickets months before, as it turned out our UK visas are not done yet and the plan went *poof*.
Triple bummed. (Still sobbing). We've been a big fan & Pulp listener since we're still wearing our school uniform and smells like the sun & teen spirit.

But thankfully our bestfriend Ovelia managed to sell our tickets to her friends! (then make that double bummed). God bless you Opel!

In between of that heartbreaking moments, I try to let my mind off and focus and the more important things instead. And I keep my mind off by..errr..having new purchases for my daily favourite things (which is they might not as important as it looks). Makeup (from MAC), lingeries (La Senza), and books (Aksara Bookstore & Gramedia). Who knows shopping can be theurapeutic! Remember, they can't buy happiness. Well, maybe for temporary!

And also the flowers I got from my birthday seems to brighten my week. I put them at our bedroom, my working space and our bathroom. Thank you love!

Although the whole plan just got delayed, I hope London & NY summer days will wait for us.

Kylie Minogue Live in Concert: Aphrodite Les Folies

Went to see Kylie Minogue 'Aphrodite Les Folies' last night and it was mind-blowing-ly awesome!

D&G and their Piccola Principessa has done it!! Somehow I felt taken to be in a Broadway musical slash cabaret show. The whole concept was a perfect harmony of music, fashion and dance.

I will skip all the talk and let you enjoy the photos (and videos too, soon!).

Documentary filmmaker Brennan Stasiewicz infiltrates the cosseted world of Daphne Guinness in Daphne’s Window. Featuring intimate footage of the icon at her Fifth Avenue apartment, the short follows the eccentric fashion patron and socialite as she prepares for her recent installation in the windows of Barneys New York. The storefront showcased her collection of pieces by designer Lee Alexander McQueen and a selection from the archive of fashion editor Isabella Blow, which Guinness purchased in its entirety last year. The display culminated in a performance art piece in which Guinness dressed for the Met ball in one of the flagship’s windows, modeling a lilac feathered gown designed by McQueen’s Sarah Burton. “She appears to me as someone always in a window,” says Stasiewicz. “Someone you can approach and see, but you remain on the other side.” This year brings a multitude of projects for the heiress: her sculptural armored glove collaboration with jeweler Shaun Leane (pictured in today’s film) will be exhibited by Jay Jopling in a private viewing in London later this month; and in September a retrospective at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology will pay homage to her style. “Daphne is someone to take pleasure in, and in many ways, someone who incites moments of wonder,” says Stasiewicz.

Mayday..Mayday!

Weekend ending in May, scootering around the city with another 999 scooter friends!

It was a massive convoy, with mostly everyone dressed up in Mod-style inspired.

Fun fun fun, despite getting my hair damp and sweaty thanks to Jakarta's humid air and being stuck in my Doraemon helmet (which is not Mod-related whatsoever) and don't forget the dry lips after the ride.

That made me realized how much we need to get the right helmets to ride 'Arizona' and also to keep hydrated when u're on ur bike/scooter.

If you're wondering, yes, Jacky's Lambretta name is Arizona Muse.

Because we love her so much, and she's such a beauty.

Chanel send Trendland the exclusive insight of the making of the infamous 2.55. Here is the view of “The secrets of the Handbag” and its press release – People often ask why CHANEL accessories never seem to age. It is because, having been influenced by the men in her life and even more by her own experience, Mademoiselle Chanel designed them to be practical and, except for a few decorative trimmings, always sensible. Above all, she was her own model: she imagined them, then wore them and finally added the finishing touches. Each detail was there for a reason. She endowed them with perfection and made them the emblem of luxury and elegance.

More than half a century later, still carrying the magic of a great myth, CHANEL accessories remain the symbol of modernity and good taste. This is due to Karl Lagerfeld’s talent. When he took over the famous inheritance of the rue Cambon in 1983, he adopted Goethe’s famous phrase as his motto: “Create a better future from the widened elements of the past,” and endeavored, without ever destroying anything, to change everything nonetheless.

In 1929 Mademoiselle Chanel was the first to introduce an elegant version of the shoulder bag. It did already exist, in the form of a large pouch with a wide strap, but was only used by members of the military on campaign. Women discovered, to their delight, that by using a thin strap they could walk around with their hands free. A new fashion was born. From then on, Mademoiselle Chanel constantly used this idea, until she eventually created the bag commonly known as the “2.55” (which is in fact its “date of birth”) in February 1955.

In leather for day, in silk or jersey for evening, the 2.55 is a “chef d’oeuvre” of refinement and perfection.
First and foremost she wanted it to be functional, so she gave it a double flap which has a zip-fastened pocket inside it – a secret place for storing a love letter or blank notes. The three bellow pockets inside the bag and particularly the tube pocket for lipstick are equally useful.

To give it volume and shape – “it has to have body” she insisted – it was quilted in a diamond shaped pattern, using plain stitch, while on the garnet colored lining (the color of the uniform she wore in the orphanage) a double C is stitched like a coat of arms. Lastly, like an artists finishing touch, the rectangular clasp is gilted with gold, and the famous leather and chain shoulder strap slips easily through golden eyelets. Only details, perhaps, but nobody else had ever thought of the them. From then on the 2.55 became an integral part of the legend of CHANEL. Today it is considered a classic amongst leather goods: It is one of the accessories that every elegant woman must own.

Launched into orbit by Mademoiselle Chanel, the famous bag, a mythical object par excellence, has not, as yet, finished its trajectory. Today it is propelled into the contemporary world by Karl Lagerfeld. He adorns it with all the colors of the rainbow, dressing it from season to season in denim, tweed, velvet, sequins or raffia, and as if by the stroke of a magic wand, it is transformed into a giant or a Lilliputian. Or, in a practical frame of mind, fulfilling the demands of a new generation of women, he metamorphosises it, with gentle wit, into a rucksack, banana bag or vanity case.

Constantly inspired by contemporary trends, Karl Lagerfeld has, with a touch of irreverence, turned this legendary bag into the ultimate modern accessory. Even if the clasp still has a double “C” (gold plated, 3 microns), the chain and leather strap is sometimes replaced by one in stitched lambskin, the quilting patterns become more fanciful, herringbones or honeycombs, the CHANEL bag still remains faithful to its style and that “something” which makes it recognizable among all the others. The care taken over the quality of the leather and the finishing touches is just as important for Karl Lagerfeld today as it was in the time of the great Mademoiselle. The manufacture of the bag, with its 180 essential operations, still requires a level of precision and craftsmanship which is jealously guarded.

1955-2002…Mademoiselle Chanel once confided to Paul Morand: “Tired of carrying my bag in my hand and losing it, I added a strap and wore it as a shoulder bag”, must be satisfied. She may be intrigued, but also confident to see that her tradition is constantly renewed. Karl Lagerfeld can certainly prove that he still has more than one cat to let out of his bag!

It was a FUN FUN SHOOT INDEED!!!

The weather was perfect, although there were dark clouds came passed above us in about 5 minutes, but then it went perfect for the rest of the day. Even the clear skies at night made the full moon and the stars are such a beautiful sight in the eyes. Also we got the chance to meet our dear model friend, Katya Kasatkina and spent the whole next day with her at the beach.

POTATO HEAD

By all means I'm referring this title to the recently opened Beach Club in Bali, and no, it's not Mr.Potato Head the cool guy from Toy Story. Hee hee.

My apologies for the one-week absence, since I was extremely busy with our latest project - (first time to) producing & (and 2nd time to) styling a video clip for a solo singer friend who's about to release his 1st album soon. And that's also why I'm back in this beautiful Bali island.

It has been our 2nd trip to this uber-cool place, the 1st visit was at night, and secondly was on the afternoon, perfect time to watch the sunset which I would recommend to you all to see. Come by around 4pm, have a sip of their Mocktails and grab some bites of their tapas, swim around while waiting for the sunset or you might prefer just to sit pretty on the pool-side listening to the coolest tunes from their loud speakers. Potato Head Beach Club (PHBC) is my new favourite Beach Club in Bali. And maybe my favourite one of all around the world. Even little kids are dancing all day through the night after their sunset swim.

As you can see from the picture above, PHBC is also an architectural icon, thanks to Andra Matin the world class Indonesian architect who put thousands of Indonesian antique window frames to this place.

Loving every bit of the details! Also not to missed on the concept store they have on the entrance.

All of this made me realized & wonder how Bali has been hugely expanded. 15 years ago, so many of these places was still a forest & wild trees everywhere. But now hotels & resorts, restaurants, beach clubs, cafes, and any kind of stores.. It's been hugely spreading almost all across Bali, the numbers are shocking!

Maybe soon in 5-10years time there won't be any quiet place like we used to know? Not sure how Bali's governor will react on all of this. But he/she must plan an action because I would love to see the original side of Bali being preserve. After all what would Bali be without their Balinese people and traditions? It would be such a Lame-O place to be.

One of the awesomeness of Jakarta's local scene happened 2 weeks ago. Brightspot Market is a unique retail concept that's being held 2-3 times a year. They gather local and international brands/designers who are innovative and unique to a wider audience. But this time was special, they're celebrating their 2nd Anniversary by having the biggest event ever - the space was filled with 88 tenants! It was a complete 4-days with good music, yummy foods and beverages and of course amazing designers (especially the local ones!). There's definitely everything for everyone in here. Well at least I, myself & Jacky also didn't get any trouble by finding a lot of stuff we like (and take it home with us). As you can see below, I managed to take pictures from our purchase.

Must tell ya, last month was a hard long working month for me, and of course for everyone in

Elle's office. Salute to all the people who were involved in the issue! The magazine turned out AMAZING!!!

So for this Advertorial, I shoot it with photographer Erich Silalahi and his awesome team

and of course hair & makeup done by Tania Ledezma.

Something new to add in your next destination list!

I got the opportunity to come around and enjoy the sunset view at the

newly opened W hotel & resort in Bali last week.

Located in Seminyak, this uber-cool & trendy beachfront hotel is the latest playground in Bali.

Forget about paying $30 just to see the sunset from a trendy resort!

W got their own groove with the new conceal/reveal concept, that allows guest to mingle and swim in their big pool or just be a part of the legendary Bali night scene,

W has put a new standard and reinvent the local scene.

Hope you have a "Wow" Weekend this Easter time.

A Friend's Art

Recently met a long time friend at my bestie's bday party,

and she told me that she made an illustration based from one of my picture.

Turns out she changed the flower motif from the real picture,

into batik motif which is great & I really really love!

Last Day in Bali.

We're heading home that night and left all

the beauty and peaceful Bali.

Spring break was lovely, and I definitely looking forward

Good morning Bali!

These are the pictures from the place that we stayed in Seminyak, Bali.

The name is Puri Damai, means "The House of Peace".

We've been staying in Puri Damai since back in 2008. With it's authentic Bali feel mix with Javanese decor, this place is simply a home to us. The one/two bedroom villa also includes a bathroom and a kitchen (with all the kitchen set). The owner, Mrs.Ayu Giri is a darling & the sweetest! She managed to put Puri Damai in Tripadvisor's #1 Specialty Lodging in Legian. It was a peaceful stay indeed (as always!) and we do think this place is a lovely little gem in Seminyak.

Photos from my first day in Bali, it was rainy with a tad of sunshine.

We pretty much sums up the day by catching up with sleep and some more quality-time

with each other. It's been so long since we can really have quality sleep, watching TV and

basically, DOING NOTHING! Which something that we can't do even at home.

Bali Baby!

Yes! We're on our Spring break, and it looks like summer came early here in Bali!

White sandy beach, blue skies, sunshine and blue ocean is what we need now.

Couldn't be more happy to see the lovely view today. Right in front of the Novotel's Nusa Dua beach house, the resort where we're staying for the next few days.

DEAD TIRED

The title for this post sums up pretty much everything why I haven't post anything lately.

It has been a DROP DEAD TIRED month! And still haven't got the time to sort everything out

(photos, outfits, new works). I'll be definitely sure to post everything as soonest as I can, to share you

everything, from the 4-long days I spent with The Whitest Boy Alive (any of you listen to their awesome music?) and also my new works for Elle Indonesia for their April Anniversary Issue.

Incase you missed it. A massive 8.9 earthquake and tsunami has swept Japan 3 days ago.

As I'm typing now, there's still small earthquakes still going on there.

My thoughts and prayers goes to Japan.. :'(
